MCC-Solomon Islands Threshold Program releases inaugural Niusleta
HONIARA, SOLOMON ISLANDS (August 29, 2023) — The MCC-Solomon Islands Threshold Program (SITHP) today released its first niusleta as part of the program’s overall commitment to openness and transparency.
The SITHP Niusleta outlines progress towards the Program’s objectives of improving the tourism and forestry sectors in the Solomon Islands. The niusleta will be produced four times a year and contain updates explaining how MCC, Solomon Islands Government (SIG) and other partners are progressing toward the outcomes of the SITHP.
"The SITHP is a four-year program that was designed and implemented jointly by the SIG and the MCC to help unlock the tourism potential in Solomon Islands and make the country’s most important natural resource – trees – more sustainable, productive and equitable. The goal of the Program is to find solutions in the tourism and forestry sectors that are country-led and country-implemented, and this newsletter lists all the organizations and stakeholders involved in making decisions about the program.
"The SITHP Niusleta makes information about the program freely and publicly available to everyone and illustrates the genuine and equal partnership that exists between the MCC and Solomon Islands Government." MCC Resident Threshold Director Charles Jakosa said.
The Solomon Islands Threshold Program demonstrates accountability and transparency in various ways including by publishing the signed grant agreement between MCC and the Solomon Islands Government on the SITHP website, posting updates on social media and regular briefings with the Solomon Islands press corps.
